Treatment
Before your treatment starts you will find out in clear, simple terms what is wrong with you, what can be done about it and what you should expect from a treatment or a treatment programme.
This is your Report of Findings. Providing it is a muscular skeletal problem you will be told how you can help yourself, the best way to get a treatment to last and make a difference is to take part in the recovery process.
You will also be advised of costs that might relate to your future care. Depending on the problem it might be possible to predict the likelihood of any recurrences and possibly if there might be any need for ongoing supportive care. This is not an unusual situation for people who have had joint injuries or those with long term problems due to degeneration (arthritis).
The treatment offered is based on your individual needs, chiropractors are trained to manipulate joints and if that is appropriate that will be offered.
Safe, specific adjustments done by hand to free the joints in the spine or other areas of the body that are not moving properly. Most often this requires a short thrust to a joint that can sometimes result in an audible ‘crack’. Soft tissue work is often required to help release contracted ‘guarding’ muscles.
Ultra sound is sometimes recommended and any postural distortions can be corrected using Ishta Spinal Touch (aka Core Postural Alignment). This is extremely gentle but incredibly effective at removing any distortions found in the spine. You may be recommended to use cryotherapy (ice) or heat.
Please ask if you have any questions or concerns about different treatment options.
